What does a medical scribe do?

A medical scribe is responsible for accurately documenting the interaction between a healthcare provider and their patients in real-time. Medical scribes can also expect to assist providers with administrative tasks such as handling phone calls, retrieving lab reports, and other duties as needed to improve efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

We seek and value candidates with a passion for healthcare, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to excellence and professionalism. Our ideal candidates are pre-med students working towards a career in the medical field.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Pre-health career track
  • College sophomore status or higher
  • Minimum 6 month time commitment
  • Ability to work at least 2 shifts (or 16 hours) per week
  • Ability to obtain education and vaccination records; including childhood immunizations

Skill Set:

What does the application process look like?

Step 1

Start by submitting an online application.  You will also be asked to complete a typing test.  Our Talent Acquisition Team will evaluate your resume, application, and typing test results.

Step 2

If you are selected to move forward with the next step in the hiring process, you will be invited to submit a video interview.  The most successful applicants complete the video interview within 24-48 hours.

Step 3

Once our team reviews your application and video interview, a recruiter will reach out to you to discuss the job responsibilities, your availability, and training details.

Step 4

Based on your application, interview, typing test, and availability to commit to the shifts available, we will extend you an offer to join the team!

Training

Once you have accepted an offer to be a medical scribe with ProScribe, you will begin a 3-phase training program designed to set you up for immediate success. Training starts with medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, medical documentation, and extends to the electronic medical record and the specific preferences of each provider.

What is the average length of employment?

The average length of employment for a medical scribe with our organization is 16 to 18 months.

Is there a minimum employment commitment time?

Yes, we require a 6 month commitment from each of our medical scribes.

How many hours will I be required to work?

At least 2 shifts (or 16 hours) per week.

Can I become a medical scribe if I'm a student?

Yes, the majority of our medical scribes are college students.

How long is the training process?

On average, our medical scribes complete the training process in about a month, which consists of self-paced online modules, classroom, and clinical training.

Will I be paid during the training process?

Yes, we do compensate you while you are training.

Why do I need vaccine records?

It is commonplace in the medical field for employers to require proof of immunizations due to the fact that employees in the medical field come into direct contact with individuals who are medically compromised. Safety is a priority!.
